Requirements :

  • Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled nurse. Current registration with SANC as Enrolled Nurse and proof of current registration. A valid driver’s license is a requirement. Basic communication skills, interpersonal skills, and elementary writing skills, ability to lead a team and function as part of the team. Must be willing to work in the community.

Duties :

  • Demonstrate basic understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices. Promote quality of basic nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards as determined by the institution. Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality nursing care and positive clinical outcomes. Manage, supervise and mentor a team of community health care workers assigned to the health facility and provide community-based services at ward level. Organise campaigns to address poor performing indicators of the facility and district. Ensure work allocation to the team and monitor performance. Liase with ward councilors (with assistance of facility manager) and other community structures with regards to overall activities of community health workers in the community. Facilitate trainings and weekly in-service for community health workers. Attend meetings, trainings and give feedback to the team. Compile monthly reports and submit to facility manager and sub district coordinator. Manage resources allocated to the team.
